China, India, Ceylon, Indonesia, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania and Zimbabwe are among developing countries in South Asia and East Africa Timur that produce more than 85% of total tea production and export in the world.

Tea is also planted in Malaysia, Japan, Russia, Iran, Turkey, Rwanda, Uganda, Congo, Argentina, Brazil and Papua New Guinea.
